Nolvadex (tamoxifen) can be prescribed by your doctor to reduce the probability of developing breast cancer. It can be also recommended if you had a surgical removal of breast cancer tumor or received chemotherapy. To make sure you are not developing cancer of the uterus, since you will probably be required to take this medicine for several years, you will need to show up for regular gynecologist’s examinations. Before you stat the treatment it’s a good idea to discuss with your health care provider all the options you have and make sure the benefits outweigh the potential risks, especially if you intend to take this drug to reduce the probability of developing breast cancer. If you have diabetes, high blood pressure, a history of a heart attack or a stroke, or if you are a regular smoker your health care provider may not be able to prescribe you Nolvadex because of high risk of developing serious and potentially fatal side effects of this medicine. If you are allergic to the active ingredient of this medicine make sure you tell your health care provider about it. You will probably not be able to take this drug because of the high probability the same reaction will happen again.
